I was getting Office 2013 sequenced using AppV 5 sp2 today and after following the Microsoft guide, publishing the application to the Citrix XenApp estate it was time to test.  All was looking good initially then I took the app out of full screen mode, there was a big blue border round all of the applications.

This was not a good look so I started digging about.  It turns out that this is called the Office 2013 Shadow Border and when running the applications on Citrix XenApp in seamless mode it gets set to a thick blue line.

Microsoft do provide a way to resolve this but it is clunky to say the least and you need to be a programmer to implement it.  If you do want to take a look its here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2821007

After a while I came across Thomas Kotzing’s post about a far simpler fix.

Copy the below text into a file on your XenApp Server.  Name the file anything.reg and execute it.  You can also deliver these settings to the server using Group Policy Preferences.

Basically this will set the bar back to its original thin state.

Hope this helps some of you out.
